Hello friends! I don’t know about you, but I have a bad habit of using mascaras far past their recommended throw-out date. I’ve been lucky so far at avoiding eye infections, but I’ve finally come to my senses and thrown out all my old mascaras. So, it’s time to head to the store and try out something new!
As I was browsing the makeup aisle at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, this Instant Doll Lash Extension Kit by Physicians Formula was calling to me. I have used a lash kit similar to this before, and I absolutely loved it. I decided it was time to get back on the fiberlash mascara train.
The kit comes with a tube of mascara, and a tube of little fuzzy “extensions”. You are supposed to put on a layer of mascara, then a layer of fuzzies, and then seal it with another layer of mascara. You can repeat the process if you want some really extreme lashes. The company claims that this mascara will “provide a bold, doll-like look that visually enlarges and widens eyes”. The kit is also hypoallergenic and cruelty free, which are both major pluses.
Here is the wand for the mascara. When you pull the wand out, way too much mascara comes out of the tube. You have to wipe it off, but it’s super sticky; it’s a very messy ordeal.
And here is the wand for the extensions. The box recommends that you give the wand a tap to brush off excess fibers. Please take care not to tap too hard! I did on accident, and little black fibers flew all over my bathroom counter. 😛
Here are what my lashes look like with no mascara. My bottom lashes are pretty long, but my top lashes are average length.
And, here is what they look like after two coats of the mascara and extensions!
The mascara definitely lengthened my eyelashes, and gave them a lot more volume at the base. However, it clumps your lashes together quite easily, as the formula is thick, goopy, and way too much comes out on the wand. With a bit of work though, you can separate the lashes and achieve this gorgeous doll-like effect! Also, make sure to brush off any fibers that may have fallen on your face afterwards!
Here is my makeup look of the day, which includes the lash kit:
At $14.95, this is more expensive than a lot of drugstore mascara. Even though I like the effect it gives my eyes, I think you can achieve a similar effect using Maybelline Lash Sensational Full Fan Effect, which is only $7 and a lot less messy. I hope you guys found this review useful!
