Hello friends! I’m back with another makeup review for you all. Today, we’re going to take a look at the BH Cosmetics/Carli Bybel Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette. I have been eyeing this online for several weeks, and I came face to face with it at Ulta the other day. After looking at the shadows in person, I just couldn’t resist. This little beauty cost $14.50, and contained 10 eyeshadows and 4 highlighters. The whole product is vegan, cruelty free, and paraben free – major points in my book. The palette comes in a sturdy cardboard packaging, and has a fairly large mirror on the inside. There are 4 mattes and 6 shimmer shadows, and colors ranging from earthy neutrals to plummy browns.
Here are all of the shadows, swatched. They are smooth and buttery, and have a good amount of pigment. All of the shadows were applied dry. I will say, I like the shimmer shades much better than the mattes. The mattes are a teensy bit patchy, whereas the shimmers are bold and strong.
Now, on to the highlighters. These are very glittery, which took a little bit of getting used to. I usually like a subtle highlight that looks like skin’s natural sheen. These babies go on strong and wet looking. Many people I know love that look, but I actually took a beauty blender and blended it in a little bit. Thankfully, it is really easy to make these look natural! And, here are the highlighter swatches. The top photo was taken with flash.
The bottom two highlighters are too dark for me, but they will work quite well on my lids. They are just too gorgeous to lie untouched!
Below, I have put together a makeup look based around this palette. On my eyes, I am using every shade from the top row of the palette. I have mixed the first two highlighters (sorry, there aren’t any shade names) and applied them on my cheekbones, inner corner, cupid’s bow, and tip of my nose. I think it turned out quite nice!
Overall, I really love the palette. It is a budget price, but not cheap quality. The texture, pigmentation, and longevity of the shades are wonderful! The only thing I can find fault with is slight patchiness of the four matte eyeshadows. And the highlighters are to die for. Hope you all enjoyed the review and the photos! Let me know what you would like me to review next. 🙂
