Vacation.

I was lucky enough to have time to go on vacation with my family a couple weeks ago. First, we stayed at a cabin in the North Carolina mountains; it was so beautiful! We spent the days swimming, reading, and exploring.. Our nights were spent laughing around the campfire, roasting hot dogs and s’mores. We went to see the Fontana Dam, which was so surreal. If you turn one way, you see this huge man-made construct. If you turn the other way, you see an absolutely gorgeous landscape.

After a few days, we headed down to Georgia for part 2 of vacation. We started off with a family Italian stuffing cook-off. I pity anybody who hasn’t had Italian stuffing; it’s soooo good! It has completely ruined regular stuffing for me. In fact, it’s probably one of my favorite foods in the world. I only get to have it once a year, so getting to eat as much of it as I wanted for three days was quite the experience.

Here it is! Italian stuffing… Yum!! It’s more of a deep fried egg & bread pancake, but it’s so good.

My grandpa won the stuffing cook-off (I was rooting for my mom though)! He took a great deal of pride in his achievement. Lots of mocking the losers ensued. 😉

Another highlight of our vacation was watching a laser light show on the side of Stone Mountain. It ended up being about 40 minutes long, which was a lot longer than I expected. But, I loved every minute of it! The kiddos really seemed to love it too. If you live in Georgia, I would recommend checking it out sometime. Or, if laser light shows aren’t really your thing, try hiking up Stone Mountain. I’ve done it a few times in my life, and it’s an awesome experience. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to hike up (unless you’re a super-mutant like my dad; then it only takes 20 minutes), and the view at the top is spectacular! We didn’t hike it this year, unfortunately, but we did take a train around the base of the mountain. We were able to learn a lot about the history of Stone Mountain on the train ride, so that is definitely something I would recommend as well.

On the last day, we went to a Memorial Day parade. I was able to see my Pop-Pop ride by! It was my favorite part of the vacation. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my life. What is the best vacation you’ve ever been on?

  1. Hi! I found you at the community pool. This is in response to the question you posted.

I think the best way to remove the awkwardness is to stop feeling that readers don’t care about your life. I don’t usually write personal stuff on my blog, but I do give examples from my own life when I write my posts, to make it more relatable. So far, my readers have been more than enthusiastic in sharing their thoughts/likes/dislikes with me!

    I’d say people do care:)

Also, I liked your post 🙂 the pictures are delightful! A slight suggestion, maybe try making the post a big longer, and more engaging, so that your readers can live your experiences! ❤
